Steeper Clinic now Guarantees One Helmet to all Patients Using STARBand Cranial Remoulding Treatment

Every child is priceless; their orthotic care doesn’t have to be. Parents of children that require STARband cranial remoulding will be excited to hear that Steeper Clinic is now a certified AllSTAR location, meaning our clinicians Kate Chauhan and Chantel Hill can provide the One Helmet Guarantee to all patients receiving this treatment*.

The One Helmet Guarantee means parents only need to purchase one cranial remoulding orthosis, so if your baby requires another helmet during their treatment, it will be provided free of charge - a significant cost saving to parents when compared to other treatment options that may require multiple helmets.

STARband cranial remoulding orthoses are commonly used to treat deformational plagiocephaly or “flat head syndrome”. Over 600,000 infants around the world have received successful STARband treatment, and Othomerica’s own research found that over 98% of infants achieved optimal results with only one STARband. A testament to the quality of the product and the skill of our AllSTAR recognised clinicians.

If your baby has an abnormal shaped head and you think they may be experiencing deformational plagiocephaly you should speak to your GP, Health Visitor or contact our team at Steeper Clinic for a free assessment. They will then examine your baby’s head from the top, sides, front and back and advise you on what to do next.

If you choose STARband treatment with Steeper, it will cost £2,300 for the full treatment. This includes a STARband helmet, fitting of the helmet, unlimited clinic visits, regular scans, alterations to the STARband as your child grows, advice and support from our paediatric orthotists, reports to your GP/paediatrician to document the progress of your baby’s treatment, and of course, our new One Helmet Guarantee.

For the One Helmet Guarantee to remain valid, you must:

Achieve the required wear time of 23 hours a day throughout the treatment.
Attend all appointments (this usually consists of one appointment every 4 weeks)
Have received all possible alterations and modifications to modify fit for growth by an AllSTAR clinician.

Please note the One Helmet Guarantee is NOT available for patients with craniosynostosis as multiple helmets will be required during the normal course of treatment.

Some cases of mild Plagiocephaly can resolve themselves with simple repositioning techniques and we only offer STARband treatment in cases where repositioning has failed. We assess on a case-by-case basis and our orthotists often determine that no intervention is needed.
